Jessica Bockler

Jessica is a professional theatre director and performer with expertise in Transpersonal Psychology and Consciousness Studies. She is a lecturer in Drama and Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University.

Jessica enjoys encouraging creative exploration and expression in all people, drawing on her background in physical theatre and dance, as well as the visual arts and creative writing. In her own performance work, she explores the dynamics between avant-garde performance techniques and traditional ritual practices, fusing authentic movement and vocal work with ancient songs and literature.

"My creative quest is propelled by recurring encounters with the realm of myths and archetypes. I love to venture into the borderlands of human history and experience - the places in which mysticism, magic and imagination thrive. I write and perform and I also direct. I facilitate workshops with actors and non-actors, working in any setting conceivable - in the past I have worked in community centres, corporate board rooms, hospitals, art galleries, supermarkets, forests, caves! I also manage creative projects with a focus on conflict resolution, health and wellbeing. I am currently heading up Creative Alternatives which promotes mental health in adults experiencing stress, depression and anxiety. See www.creativealternatives.org.uk

Jessica is nearing completion of a PhD at Liverpool John Moores University which is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. She has a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts and an MSc (with distinction) in Consciousness and Transpersonal Psychology, as well as a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the Centre de Médiation et de Formation à la Médiation (CMFM) in Paris which she gained with a scholarship from the Council of Europe.
