the power of our originating mind to create and manifest the change we wish to be and see in our world.
Perhaps the single most important capacity we possess and yet seldom engage consciously is that of intentionality. Intention is the stuff of imagination and vision, unfettered visualisation and free formation of ideas. Though intentionality may eventually find its expression in language, its power springs from a source that language can not define or ever fully express.
By being clear about what we want we create an attractive force that brings to us the circumstances we require to achieve what we intend. In the early 1900s, an American named Wallace D. Wattles wrote: A thought in its substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought. I can form things in my thought, and by impressing my thoughts upon formless substance, can cause the thing I think about to be created. In order to do this I must pass from the competitive to the creative mind.
The power of our originating mind goes wholly unrecognised in most of us and yet it is human intentionality that has created everything "man made", including global warming. While we have all heard of genes, in the 1970s biologist Richard Dawkins introduced the idea of "memes" - units of cultural information that are of fundamental importance to our human experience. A meme has been defined as "any permanent pattern of matter or information produced by an act of human intentionality" - in other words everything from sausages to music, from football to quantum theory. What begin in us as ideas and imaginings take form in thoughts, expression and ultimately in some physical or cultural form we create memes.
Intentionality is the most powerful gift we have - used wisely it can change the world. Sign up for our FREE Body and Brain in Business Newsletter for information about Intentionality and more.....
