Biographical moments

Magic moments, child's eye view

Moments of madness, a different hue

Moment of stillness in a stranger's gaze

Moment of sadness, blurry haze

Moments time-spliced in love's embrace

A moment of greatness, with God's grace

Lost in the moment freedom found

Moment of doubt, earthly bound

Momentary disruption - normal service resumed

Moment of contemplation, hurt feelings consumed

Moment of reckoning, rarely a thought

Just a moment, alone

The moment of Truth

October 2007 - From 'The Future of the Body' by Michael Murphy

"All of us can reach out with love in most circumstances: there are countless ways to perform acts of kindness.  All of us can cultivate equanimity in response to events that usually make us suffer, and in so doing experience a regenerative delight.  All of us can conceive our solidarity with others, imagine a oneness with the world at large, and thus awaken to the unitive knowing that crowns human cognition.  In these, our most available potentials for growth, we find the surest way to our greater fulfillment."

"The greatest revolution of my life is the discovery that individuals can change the outer aspects of their lives by changing the inner attitudes of their minds."  William James

Autobiography in Five Chapters, by Portia Nelson

I walk down the street.
There is a hole.
I don’t see it.
I fall in.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes a very long time to get out.

I walk down the same street.
There is still a deep hole.
I pretend not to see it.
I fall in.
I pretend it’s still not my fault.
It takes a long time to get out.

I walk down the same street.
There is still the same deep hole.
I see it.
I fall in anyway.
It’s a habit.
I get out quicker this time.

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole.
I see it.
I walk around it.
I don’t fall in.

I walk down a different street.

14 November 2007 - From www.celestialnotebook.com authored by Marelna du Plessis

Before you are able to deeply connect with others, you have to become clear about your own space, which means that it is vital that you define your own boundary. You find your boundary when you are pushed to your farthest limit, when you are able to say NO without a charge and without breaking contact. You cannot say YES wholeheartedly unless you can also say NO. When you are able to say either YES or NO, you bring the whole of yourself into a relationship.
To give oneself has no meaning unless one possesses oneself. You can give only what you have. Albert Camus

21 November 2007 - from Ben Okri

"The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering."

3 December 2007

'We have the power to accept or not accept, to conceptualise or reframe circumstances in our lives in order to give them meaning, to discover possibilities for integrity, self-esteem and growth even in the most dire circumstances.' Tracy Marks
